75th Jubilee Shoot

On Saturday 22nd November 2008 the Clevedon Rifle Club held their 75th Celebration on the Clevedon Range. Shot over 600 yards in windy, warm conditions 45 shooter took part in an interesting day.

A lot of ex-member turned up: Arthur Salt and his wife, John Leighton, Ricky Gerard, Ron Dent, Mike Renall, Margaret McCarthy, Bev Bower and enjoyed the company of some on the older members still shooting such as Steve Bower, Dave Grigsby, Max McCarthy and the rest of the club shooters there. Most of them have not shot for over 10 years, some longer. A couple shot on the day and did not disgrace themselves.

After the shooting we had a barbeque and refreshments followed by the prize giving, with everyone participating receiving a medal.

Grade Winners: Clair Salter (Tyro), David von Elling (A Grade),
Lee Houghton (C Grade), John Apperley (B Grade) and Joey Meldrum (F Class).

A big thanks needs to go out to Richard and Sally Cattle for helping me to organize the event, David von Elling and Charles Hoddinott for the medals, Ivan Dominovich/ Steve Bower for up-dating club history and all the members of the Clevedon Club for helping out through out the day.

Saturday 26th November 2033 is when the 100th will be celebrated on the range. We have all marked the date down in our dairies and are looking forward to reaching this milestone.
